Naturally, when you are researching auto mechanic programs, one of your main concerns is cost. To many people, the tuition charged by auto tech schools seems exorbitant when compared with the less expensive programs offered at community colleges. However, as a school that specializes in one area of instruction, an automotive school offers many benefits over a low budget community college program.
For instance, most auto tech schools offer better equipment than community colleges. The reason for this is that community colleges depend on the government for their funding, and as a result are constantly struggling to pay their teachers, let alone stay up to date on equipment for their students. On the other hand, the tuition you pay at an automotive school ensures that the school can provide and maintain state of the art equipment for its students.
Another advantage of the degree programs offered by auto tech schools is superior teachers. Under funding at community colleges also results in underpaid teachers, which usually means that the best and most knowledgeable teachers won’t settle for a job at a community college. Also, since an automotive school specializes in their field, rather than offering classes simply as an alternative for non-traditional or non-academic students, they tend to look for teachers who are better qualified to teach their subject.
The curriculum offered by an automotive school is also generally higher quality than those offered by community colleges. Again, this has to do with the fact that auto tech schools specialize in one field. As a result, a school that focuses on automotive training will be able to offer a choice of several different degree programs, including programs for earning Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications. ASE certifications are an important part of the automotive industry, as they demonstrate to employers and customers alike that a mechanic has mastered his or her areas of certification; as such, any good automotive education program will train and test students in the areas of ASE certification.
Besides factors that are directly related to the quality of a student’s education, such as high quality equipment, teachers, and educational programs, as private institutions auto tech schools can also offer superior student services, such as job placement services. Job placement services in particular are very important, as the primary reason for pursuing an education is to become more qualified for a specific job or career. Auto tech schools tend to have an office dedicated to helping graduates find jobs, and usually have a good reputation with local employers. Additionally, many auto tech schools have long term relationships with local business, meaning that many of these businesses go directly to the school when they are in need of interns or fulltime mechanics. All of these factors help the graduates of an auto tech school find jobs more easily than those who attended a community college.
Saving yourself money by attending a community college program may seem like a wise decision, but in the long run it may have a detrimental impact on your career path. Factors such as the curriculum, teachers, and equipment dictate how much you learn and how well you learn it, while support services for students, such as job placement assistance, help you translate your education into a career. The extra money it costs to enroll in a degree program at an auto tech school may be the difference between a quality education and mediocre training, a career in the fast track or just a job.

We all think about the expense of going to school such as tuition, books, special fee’s, etc. but remember the average college kid grows during the four year term of school and clothes is very important. Many students who attend a college or University in a cold climate need many clothes to keep them warm. One of the many important things that a student needs is to be kept warm and comfortable in order to keep up with their studies. A parent gets so involved with taking care of the other expenses that colleges attach to the student and then of course the children at home need things as well sometimes the idea of buying clothes may not seem affordable. The student now being more of an adult often hates to relate to the parent the shortage of clothing or the fact that they have outgrown what they are now wearing. There is help for the college student when it comes to buying clothes. The student services provide you with the information that you need to find very inexpensive clothing that will keep you warm.
A student can find out where to go to find comfortable clothes that will keep them warm and in some cases the clothing store for students provide a system where they can trade their clothes for other clothes or possibly sell the clothes and using the money to buy themselves what they need. There are churches in the community that help provide clothing for those students who are in need in order to help them through school. You can find community centers that will help you with your clothing needs as well but remember you need not go without there are many resources. The best place you can start with help is with student services and perhaps one of the local churches in the community. Many students donate their time in repayment for clothes which is a great way to make friends and help others in the community.
You need to have warm socks in your wardrobe in order to keep your feet warm. You cannot study if you have cold wet feet. You should look into getting silk underwear as this is best for the transition of the cold outside to the overheated inside classrooms. You should also make sure that you have warm winter boots and a down winter coat or jacket in order to keep warm. You do not want to catch a bad cold or the flu this will slow down your studies and make life very unbearable. You can find that if you check out sales and go online you might be able to purchase these items at a very reasonable amount of money. If you inquire with student services sometimes they also know where you are able to get a clothing voucher that will help provide you with the money necessary for your clothes. There is money available for clothes for the college kid.

You want to look at properties, but you’re not sure why they are priced the way they are. You want to buy a house, but you’re baffled at all the paperwork required. Finally, you want to understand the nature of loans and mortgages. One way to find the answers to all your questions is to take a real estate course. Most courses are, understandably, geared towards getting a real estate license. There are, however, courses that will answer your questions in depth.
Today, it is easier than ever to take a real estate course. Many are held online so that you can work from the comfort of your own home and at your own pace. Some companies handle multiple state licensing courses. Real Estate http://Express.Com, for example, includes courses for Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma, Virginia and Washington. You pay a course fee and then study for your license. Your final examination is administered in an educational facility by an approved instructor or by a qualified person who is not in the real estate business. You can also take a real estate course at a community college or a real estate school.
Taking a real estate course will give you an idea of how the real estate market works. http://Elearners.Com offers a real estate mastery program that will teach you everything that a professional realtor would know about real estate sales.
There are courses you can take to find out how real estate is appraised. You can learn how properties are inspected and valued. You can discover how zoning ordinances, construction and lot problems affect prices. Find out how the quality of neighborhoods, schools, as well as crime rates, affects market values. This way you will know if the home you are considering is worth the asking price.
Every home must be inspected before it is sold. You can take an online course to learn inspection standards, regulations, and building codes and regulations. You can learn how to conduct exterior and interior inspections; including electric, heating, air conditioning, and plumbing systems. Save yourself time and money by doing a mini inspection yourself, on each property as you go, eliminating properties that look good but may have unseen problems.
The Georgia Institute of Real Estate has a catalogue of online courses (http://www.learnanytime.net/lre/catalog_ce.aspx?vid=gire) to teach you about selling and financing real estate. http://www.depetrorubin.com/mortgagebroker.html will inform you about mortgages. You can learn more about real estate loans at http://www.federalreserve.gov/boarddocs/supmanual/us_branches/3000_3.pdf. You will also become familiar with deeds, agreements of sale, leases, judgments, liens, title insurance, and closing procedures.
Buying a home may be a confusing process. You can do it yourself or enlist a realtor or an agent to help make the purchase easier. If you want to know all the whys and wherefores, you will need to do some studying. Search through the many online courses to find one which suits your interests.

Amy Kirwan, a recent graduate of Phoenix University, recently sat down with me to speak about her day-to-day life as an online college student. As a working professional, she found the online environment a great fit for her lifestyle. Working nine to five, Amy would check in with her online school a few times a day to stay in touch and check out the status of her group projects so that if her online classmates needed anything from her, she could take care of it right away.
For the most part, though, the daily life of an online college student is shaped by the off-line life of that student: you can participate in the online classroom environment without disturbing your work schedule. You read for your classes on your own time, and conduct research when you can. At night, students spend several hours at the computer.
When you’re on the computer at night, you can interact with your classmates. Online colleges try to arrange classes so that people in the same time zone are taking classes together. Therefore, when you’re working, the people in your classes tend to be working as well. In addition to free-form interactions with your classmates via the message boards, you will be required to post written answers to discussion questions about your readings. These written responses take the form of essays. In addition to providing your own answers to the discussion questions, you will be responsible for reading and responding to those responses posted by your classmates.
Phoenix University requires its students to actively participate five out of seven days a week. If the school week begins on a Monday, you will probably do the required reading on Monday and Tuesday and post your responses to discussion questions by Wednesday.
In addition to the substantive responses to your classmate’s discussion question essays, you will interact with your online classmates by participating in group papers and group presentations. One example of a group project is the creation of a new business, where teammates work together to craft a mission statement, a business plan, as well as plans for how the company would be marketed.
Depending on the course you take, you might also be responsible for writing an individual paper each week, in addition to the work you are responsible for in your team project. Each week, you will receive an assessment from your online professor, which will include results on papers and tests as well as commentary on your online posts as well as an overview of your progress in the course.

You have probably seen news stories about the preferred lender lists that most colleges have and alleged misconduct by some lenders and financial aid officers. There have been a lot of accusations and some admissions, but what does this all mean to you? What if your school is one of the ones being investigated?
The majority of people who work in the financial aid office of your school are on your side and work very hard to make sure their students receive the best loan information possible. But just like any other industry, there will always be a couple bad apples. So far 6 colleges have suspended or fired their financial aid directors over inappropriate relationships with lenders. Several lenders have agreed to pay into a fund set up to educate students and their families about their financial aid options, some of them up to two million dollars. Financial aid officers from more than 100 schools have been questioned. The general manager of the Department of Education’s financial partners services has been suspended. What exactly is all the fuss over?
Almost all colleges and universities have a preferred lender list available for their students. The purpose of the list was to give students several options of companies that the college has found to be fair and honest in their dealings. Even though you are not required to choose a lender off of the list – federal law states you may use any lender you wish – most students just picked one of the ones their school recommends. That would be fine except this investigation has shown the names on that list may not all be there because they are the best option for the student. A few financial aid officers and schools have received financial benefits from a few lenders (called inducements) for encouraging their students to use them. As an example some lenders have allegedly contributed to the school’s scholarship funds, paid for officers to travel to island resorts for “meetings”, given officers high paying consultation jobs, provided gifts and cash bonuses to officers, paid a percentage of the loans generated back to the school, given officers stock in the lender’s company. There is currently a congressional summit going on to discuss these lender inducements, preferred lender lists, and any other issues left unresolved from the last summit.
There has already been a profound effect within the higher educational community. Many schools have voluntarily ended lender agreements that could be seen as biased, adopted the new guidelines for conduct drafted by New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo and repaid any money received from lenders to their students through scholarships and student benefits programs. The NY Attorney General’s office has announced one intended lawsuit already and several other states Attorneys General have started their own investigations. No one is sure what this will mean to individual students, but the times are definitely changing.

We successfully homeschool but don’t know how to obtain scholarships. We know of traditional students who have obtained scholarships for their ACT scores and musical achievements and basketball achievementments. What are available for homeschool students?
Home schoolers can qualify with high scores on ACT and/or SAT scores. Also, check within your state for available scholarships, many like Florida have groups that specifically grant scholarships to home schoolers.
Depending on whether or not you live in a home school friendly community, many home educated are allowed to enter into public school sporting activities as well as music and some are able to earn scholarships from those.
Then of course there is the National Merit Scholarship http://www.nationalmerit.org/ and finally, here is a whole slew of choices http://homeschooling.gomilpitas.com/olderkids/ContestsScholarships.htm
Hope that helps ~

I’m a high school junior, and have a year until I graduate. I’m not sure what courses I need to take in college in order to become a criminal profiler, nor do I know what degree I would need. My ultimat goal is to wark with the FBI, though I know that is a long way away. I was wondering if anybody knew the steps it takes to at least be on my way?
When my daughter was in college she was interested in doing that. She found out that the only way to be a criminal profiler is to join the FBI and you have to work your way up to that position. Taking criminology and psychology will help prepare you for that. Get as many of those type classes as you can. Start looking at the FBI website and look at what they require for employment and see what the job descriptions are and this should help you decide if that is really what you want to do. Remember, you are young and it’s OK to change your mind. But explore all options. Good Luck!

I know usually you should never use contractions in any formal writing, but I think it would seem a little less robotic and more humanizing if I let up a little bit on that.
Like for example, here’s my first sentence:
"I’d like to start off by thanking you for considering me as a potential candidate for admission for the upcoming fall semester."
Will it be acceptable to use a few contractions here and there?
Am I worrying way too much about this? If I am it’s just because I really, really want to get into this college. Being on the wait list is killing me!
Contractions, as a whole, should generally be used for more informal writing. Your college admissions letter should be far from this casual so I would recommend that you steer clear of contractions, in this situation.
I do think that following up with the admissions officer is an excellent idea … this will show enthusiasm and interest on your part to get into your desired program.
Oh yes! I’m with "kvh" with her suggestion to just lead with the sentence, "Thank you for considering …" (it’s stronger and less "klunky").

And do i have to join the military on active duty after college and completing the ROTC thing to get the free tuition? if so,,for how long?
What exactly is my status in the military if i get a ROTC? reserve?
I am 18 and planning on using the ROTC for all four years of college and be debt free when i get out.
If you did not get a HSSP scholarship, you do not have the freshman option.
Depends on how much your tuition is, whether we pay all of it or not.
A Type I scholarship pays the whole tuition, even if you go to Harvard.
A Type II pays up to $7500 a semester-if your tuition is $8K, you still need to scare up $500.
A type 7 pays up to $4500 a semester.
Most people have a 4 year obligation after they commission. Medical students, pilots, navigators, ABMs have a longer committment. Everybody has some kind of commitment.
Contract cadets are in the Obligated Reserves. The way I explain this to the cadets is, the only way they are ever going to call up Obligated Reserves is if everybody else is dead.
Hope this helps.
