I will be teaching my first college level class this fall and, although it won’t be a large class, this appeared to be the best book to give me an overview of things I should consider when planning for the class. It really is a general overview of a broad range of topics that might be faced at the college level. It gave me a lot of things to think about and a good idea of what to expect. I definitely recommend it if you want some general advice and tips. Even if it is not a large class, there is still a lot of information that can apply.

I would strongly suggest this book to professors as a way of honing their lectures! Showing how to involve a large class, it runs through many effective methods of teaching, and shows delineation of the process. Importantly, it shows methods of breaking up class time so that students’ attention is less divided as class wears on. It is enjoyable to read, and has many useful references in the back for further study.
