I only have my GED. I was told that in order to qualify for the army enlistment bonus, I must have 15 college credit hours under my belt. What college classes am I supposed to take? Just any classes?

You will advance much faster in civilian life if you put your mind to it.

A person who attends a college or university and successfully completes at least 15 semester or 20 quarter hours of college-level credit. “Successfully completed” means that the individual earned college-level credits (level 100 or higher) toward a degree in higher education from an institution listed in the degree granting section of the current version of the Accredited Institutions of Post-secondary Education (AIPE), published by the American Council on Education for the Council of Post Secondary Accreditation. NOT all institutions listed in the current AIPE are considered as offering college-level credits. The credits must have been earned through actual classroom participation at the institution awarding the credits.
Note: For the Army, completion of college courses below the 100 level will be accepted for enlistment if the course is clearly identified as a college level course and credit will be recognized by the college towards graduation and degree completion requirements. An original letter on the college letterhead stationary is required to verify the status of courses completed.

Talk to a recruiter first. The Army wasn’t taking anybody with just GED’s when I joined a few months back. Get all the facts from recruiters before trying to make any advancements.

You need to study Military history and learn how badly you get treated in the army. if you are not an officer you are cannon fodder. You won’t get the truth out of a recruiter.

basics such as algebra a science a sociology an english class and other junk like that. you can’t really take anything advanced if you don’t have basics anyway. most classes are 3 credits. if you buckle down and don’t go nuts you could get all that done in one semester.
good luck!

Just take your “basics” first year college classes. Composition 1, whatever level of math you test into, history, and a science (with a lab.) Also, take an elective, something fun you actually enjoy. The best thing about having those out of the way is that you will be ahead of many of your peers in earning an Associate’s degree or even a Bachelor’s.

No! you can’t just take any classes! you must take 100+ level classes! im doing the same thing and is currently attending community college to get my credits! its up to you if you’re too far behind on getting your actual high school diploma then i would recommend taking college courses instead..there’s a lot of programs out there if you qualify will pay for all your classes i definitely would go see a counselor. You can take most classes except P.E. Im currently taking Health 101, World Music 109, Art 100, Geography 101 etc..its not as bad!! i started in the beginning of Summer and i should be done by the mid Dec..Good-luck!
p.s
from what i heard the enlistment bonus really depends on how you score on your ASVAB! and harder jobs that you qualify for.
