College of Charleston tuition increase more than result of state budget cuts
The College of Charleston ’s Board of Trustees voted Monday for a $1,326 tuition increase saying that such steps were necessary to maintain the learning environment and resources for students in the wake of state budget cuts.

Community college tuition to increase by 7.5 percent
The community college system, which has seen its enrollment surge as state support has dropped, plans to use federal stimulus money to offset tuition increases over the next two years. Community college students—whose numbers have increased by 22,000 over the past two years—will pay about $225 more to attend school full time next year.
