I’m looking at being a college admissions councelor. What major do I need?
Admissions counselors usually need at least a bachelor’s degree. There isn’t one particular major that you have to focus on, just get some experience in college/postsecondary experiences. I have worked in a college for several years an educational coordinator and now as a career counselor; and my bachelor’s was in public health and my first master’s was in public affairs. I would say do some internships with an admission’s counselor, and maybe think about classes or majors in sociology, psychology, etc. that assist you with understanding and working with people in differing situations.

none because you can advise students all day long and they will do whatever they want. I have an advisor in my division and he doesn’t have a clue to which direction students want to go and anybody can be that.
